What is SFD?

SFD (Schutz Fahrzeug Diagnose), or Vehicle Diagnostic Protection, is an advanced security layer introduced by the Volkswagen Group (VAG) to safeguard vehicles from unauthorised access and modifications.

This system records who accesses or modifies a vehicle's diagnostic data, helping protect owners from fraud. SFD restricts critical functions such as adaptations, coding, and parameter settings.

When Do You Need SFD Unlocking?

Your Autel tool will come up with a message stating you need to unlock the SFD and you will not be able to perform the function.

Applicable Models: Vehicles from 2020 onwards.
