2018 and newer Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, Jeep and Fiat now have a Secure Gate Module, or SGM. This SGM will not allow your scan tool to perform bi-directional control of the vehicle. Autel provided the cable to bypass the SGM.
The new Chrysler 12+8 Diagnostic Cable provides connectivity to late model Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Fiat and Alfa vehicles.

Suitable for:

12+8 adapter connects to Autel MaxiSys VCI.
The cable adapter can be used with Autel Maxisys MS906BT+ series scanners, such as MS906BT, MS906S, MS908, MS908S, MS908S PRO, Maxisys Elite.

What is it used for?

1. Use with Autel MaxiSys scanner to diagnose Chrysler Jeep Renegade Wrangler 300C after 2018.
2. Most 2018 and newer FCA vehicles are equipped with a Safety Gateway Module.

Expect to see this message when scanning a Chrysler using the Safety Gateway Module:
DEVICE UNABLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE CONTROL UNIT
The location of the SGM varies, but it is often located on the side panel, passenger side near the glove box, or behind the radio.
